We are finishing mentoring for the year and are planning for the 2024-2025 school year. Please plan to attend our Mentoring Orientation designed to celebrate mentoring and the accomplishments that we have made over the past year and get ready for the new year. We will spend some time brushing up on mentoring policies that all mentors need to know and there will be a special session for new mentors to learn how Mentoring works. Please plan to attend our
Fall Orientation - Thursday, Sept 12 at 11am held at St. Barnabas Church (NEW THIS YEAR!) Lunch will be served!
If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Lori McClellan at [email protected]!
Thank you to all of our 2023-2024 mentors!!
We started the year with 96 students being served and are ending the year with 150 students! We are grateful for the new mentors that have joined us. Covid was difficult and we are just now up to pre-covid numbers! If you would like to learn more about mentoring, please contact Lori McClellan at [email protected].

Become a mentor!
“A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.” — Oprah Winfrey
The pandemic has been really hard on everyone and student mental health issues are more common and more severe than ever. Having a trusted adult to talk to and get support from is one thing that we can do to make a difference. Contact Lori McClellan, FAB administrator at [email protected] for more information.
Waiting Lists
Our program is only limited by the number of volunteers available. We don't add students to the program unless we have mentors available. Currently, we have 13 students on the waitlist. Would you donate an hour of your time once a week to make a difference in the life of a Gillespie county student. In changing the student's lives, you also impact the entire family's life!
FAB functions primarily with the generous support of FISD. We also rely on donations from the community. You may donate in memory or honor of a loved one or pay your yearly or lifetime dues! You may donate to the Scholarship Fund or to the Operational Fund (Mentoring/OTTER Program),
